Software houses and their customers usually face the same situation: How to upgrade to a new software version? The problem arises when a customer who has customized the original application does not want to lose those customizations.

As of GeneXus X Evolution 1 new functionality has been added to GeneXus that greatly improves the above scenario by keeping track of what software version a given customer has, what software version is receiving and what changes the customer has made to the original software version.

A new technology (known internally as "Change Defender") uses the above three software versions to generate a new one that combines them all with minimum effort.
