Depending on the SD screen size you may want to show List and Detail information side by side (Split) or not (Flip). In Split Navigation the Detail shows the item selected in List. In Flip Navigation items selected in List are shown in Detail by "flipping" the screen.

Split or Flip is selected automatically depending on the screen size. Usually Flip for phones and Split for tablets. This is the default value. |

Detail information is displayed on a separate screen once an item is selected in List. |
Examples
Split: the information is divided in two sections on the screen.
iPad Example
As shown in the figure above, there is a frame to the left (in this case, a list of news articles) and the main area is to the right. If it is being executed on a Smartphone device, the Split value will be ignored and the default value will be assumed.
Flip: works in Tablets and Smartphones. Data is displayed in a single area, and it can’t be divided.
